Hello RB Students,
Like trivia contests? Want to compete against other high school students in a quiz-bowl challenge? Then join the Academic Team and compete in Scholastic Bowl and the National History Bee and Bowl!
Scholastic Bowlis a buzzer-based quiz competition that tests players on a wide variety of academic subjects including Math (algebra, geometry, etc.), Science (biology, chemistry, etc.), Literature (American and World), Social Studies (history, geography, etc.), Fine Arts (music, art, etc.) and Miscellaneous (entertainment, sports, etc.). The RB Academic Team competes against other schools in our conference and at tournaments in January and February.
National History Bowl is a buzzer-based history quiz competition for teams of up to 6 students. Questions will reference the history of the arts, sciences, religion, philosophy, language, historical geography, recent history, and even a bit of the history of sports and entertainment. Of course, many questions will also reference political, diplomatic, social, and military history too. Winners at the Regional level qualify for Nationals and a chance to join Team USA at the International History Olympiad.
National History Bee is a buzzer-based history quiz competition for individual students. Students compete in a series of rounds where they attempt to be the first to buzz in and answer paragraph-length questions about various topics in history. Winners at the Regional level qualify for Nationals and a chance to join Team USA at the International History Olympiad.
US Geography Olympiad is a nationwide competition to test high school students’ knowledge of geography. This challenge is a twenty-minute multiple choice exam taken during the National History Bowl. Winners at the Regional level move on to Nationals and a chance to join Team USA at the International Geography Olympiad.
US History Bee Qualifying Exam is a National Qualifying Exam taken during the National History Bowl. Unlike the National History Bee which encompasses a broad range of history, this exam focuses on US History. Students qualify for a chance to make it to Nationals.
