RBCHS Concert Choir

CONCERT CHOIRS

Choir Calendar

The Concert Choir program at Richmond-Burton High School is made up of two different performing ensembles. Each of these ensembles strives to develop musicianship and choral repertoire at the highest level of performance. By placing an emphasis on high school fundamental techniques at both the individual and ensemble levels, the choirs will mature and grow together as individuals, musical ensembles, and as young citizens in their community. The choir will focus on music reading, tone production, counting rhythms, ensemble singing, listening, intonation, as well as a variety of other vocal techniques.

The Concert Choirs of RB

RB Chorale One

Chorale One is one of three co-curricular choirs that meets every day for the entire year. Chorale One will prepare challenging concert literature for ensemble performances as well as work on an individual basis toward individual performance opportunities. This choir will also occasionally perform with the Concert Choir. In addition to preparing concert repertoire, emphasis will be placed on the development of fundamental techniques that will produce stronger musicianship and singers. This ensemble is required for all freshman regardless of prior experience. (Gr. 9-12)

RB Concert Choir

The Concert Choir is one of three co-curricular choirs that meets every day, all year long. The Concert Choir will prepare challenging and often times outstanding upper-level repertoire. This ensemble will occasionally perform with Chorale One. Because of the level of repertoire, students are expected to practice their music outside of the classroom. Students are also asked to pursue private lessons if fiscally possible. Though it is not mandatory, it is highly recommended. Placement in this ensemble is conducted at the beginning of the Spring Semester by audition. (Gr. 10, 11, 12)

RB Advanced Treble Choir - (NOT OFFERED 2021-2022)

Advanced Treble Choir is one of three co-curricular choirs that meets every day, all year long. This course is unique in the sense that it is offered during Zero Hour/Early Bird (before school from 7:00-7:45 am). This class was created in order to work around scheduling conflict many older students experience. This course is offered to singers that have a range described as "treble" meaning, soprano and alto voice parts. Advanced Treble Choir prepares challenging and often times outstanding upper-level repertoire. This ensemble will occasionally perform with Chorale One and Concert Choir. This choir also participates in an annual fundraiser called vocal valentines. Because of the level of repertoire, students are expected to practice their music outside of the classroom. Students are also asked to pursue private lessons if fiscally possible. Though it is not mandatory, it is highly recommended. Placement in this ensemble is conducted at the beginning of the Spring Semester by audition. (Gr. 10 with parent permission, 11, 12)

Every student participating in the RB Concert Choirs is required to perform at all scheduled concert. In addition to this, students must also complete various homework assignments and attend individual sectional rehearsals throughout each semester. There are frequent assessments of skill progression and rudimentary techniques.
